Don't try to pry it out. I take a big pipe wrench, grab the pump (where the gears are) and maybe an extention to put on the pipe wrench, twist the pump back and forth, squirt some weasel pi-- around the bottom, when you can twist it easy try prying it up a little with a pinch bar while twisting.
