As has been suggested above, the adjustments on a 7 tooth steering box are limited. That doesn't mean they can't be made to be very good. I suggest a machinist who can make eccentric sector shaft bushes and adjust them to get full engagement between the worm and sector. Then, you'll never wear it out and there will be little to no free play.
