As a plater of over twenty years here's my input:
-If it is a un-replaceable part that you just must have...by all means have it plated
-If it is a common item...buy a new one
-If you are strapped for cash...paint it
-If you just want to drive and have fun...use as is
-And if you live in the peoples republic of Calif. or New York...forget it

Plating prices have gone up higher then eggs and meat
