At some point you have to look at your wallet, and where you want to end up. A 57 tach drive will never be correct on a 56. A late model manifold and “correct” carb will never be correct on a 56. They may have value elsewhere as in resale, and will work.

On the other hand, if there’s a repo dizzy unit that’s good and 1/3rd the money? Or a Mummert manifold that’s less than on original? Paint it. The carb is even a tougher decision, there’s some pretty good (read better) new ones for a fraction of a correct core and complete restoration.

I appreciate correct restorations. But I never saw my way clear to affording one.
