The guys running these yards didn't get where they are by giving stuff away.

Without question most yard owners are pretty sharp and know what they are doing to make money.
The flip of this I just don't get the mindset. I believe the story goes the guy has to sell or the stuff will go to scrap. Someone comes along and is willing to purchase a lot of engines of unknown condition and the guy says come back after hunting season?
I just don't get it.
