It is my understanding that the springs were sold as a set, so that the main springs were not interchangeable. However, the better solution, without buying a new complete spring, in my opinion, would be to use the main spring from the 10 leaf spring to replace the broken main spring in the 8 leaf spring. The 10 leaf spring in your coupe would be far to stiff and raise the car up in the back which would throw the alignment in the front off. I also think there is no correct leaves to remove from the 10 leaf spring.

Be careful when putting the spring back on the car. There is a lot of stored up energy when mounted.
