When I was driving mine, I assumed the responsibility of repairing it since I had already done a frame up restoration, so I only had collision on it to protect the other guy and pass the state law for having regular tags. That is one reason that I drove one, I can fix what ever happens to it but expect it to have small stuff happen to the paint etc. I would suggest putting seat belts in if you don't have them as probably the first thing that happens in an accident is for the doors to fly open.
