I always thought that the longer spark plug connectors were used on the model B . I think that length of spark plugs was the reason for different length connectors . The 3X spark plugs stand taller than the C4 and some other spark plugs . If a TOO short connector is used it will contact the distributor cap body . When the spark plug connector contacts and melts a spot on the distributor cap it can cause a short between number 4 and number 3 cylinders . I prefer the longer connectors because they can be used with shorter spark plugs, model B's and digfferent aftermarket heads with different spark plug spacing .
