It is much less expensive to cast them in aluminum than to machine them from steel. Because they are cast, the inside corners of the tool for the outer nut are rounded causing the tool to not fully seat around the nut. I used a Dremel Tool to make the corners sharper so that the tool will seat better onto the nut, therefore giving a better grip for turning. After doing this, I've never had a problem with the tool.
