Some years back I was restoring an antique wood burning cook stove for my wife. There was a decorative cast iron cover that had a hole in the center for a oven thermometer to fit in and was mounted in the center of the oven door. After having it plated I had to file the round opening in order for the thermometer to fit. Originally was nickel but I went with chrome for upkeep reasons. Anyway it was more than a few thousands.
