I made up a fuel level tester with the transparent plastic tubing so that I could measure the fuel level with the carb on the car. The result was that my fuel level was 3/4 inch below the seam.

As mentioned above I had set the float 1 3/4 inches from the seam. In the future I will set it at 1 5/8 inches.

As far as getting a leak-tight fuel needle, I have a few old ones that checked out good. I have also purchased 2 new ones, the ball type, which I think are working well. They run about $20.00, I believe, but it can save a lot of head-aches.
