Actually the AOD is better fit than the C4 it's mount distance is exactly the same as the Ford-O-Matic or 3 speed stick. Here is a picture of my own AOD on the stock trans cross member in my '54. With either a C4 or AOD you can use a 1982-86 Crown Vic drive shaft with a NEAPCO 2-0291 conversion U-joint and it will bolt right up to the stock rear end.
