One of these may be for the Ford V8 - which had the nut. In one of my books the author/rebuilder advises that the V8 version is "superior material" and is to be preferred in the Model A application.

Dunno, could be hearsay.

Otherwise I would have to put it to subcontractor variation. Ford used MANY subcontractors - sometimes the pieces would be marked for traceability, other times not.

One of the vendors for the V8 nut repop advertises "1-1/8 hex" like there may be others out there?
