Default Location of oil pressure sending unit

I'm getting ready to install my '51 Merc engine in my '51 Ford. The fitting on the canister filter was different on the Merc, so I put the Ford canister on it. Since the engine was on my test stand, I scrounged some fittings in order to hook up the mechanical oil pressure gauge. Now I want to put the stock sender back in and it seems to close to the canister to fit. I think I must have left something out that has since been misplaced. Anybody have a diagram of how this goes together? Or maybe a close-up picture of the stock setup.
