Mine is fastened to the metal front of the seat riser of my '30 roadster.
There would be no need to have a cable in connection and a cable out connection in the battery ground cable (to frame/engine/or) if the switch , itself, was/is the ground, eh .

AND, the cables colors (red)for positive 'ground' in a stock 6v model a system is different than ground (black) in 12v system.
