I would guess the rods are from a model T ford. They were plentyful back then, and the base of the drill press looks like a model T driveshaft coupling clamshell.
When I was in the Air Force in the 60's, I was for a while stationed in Oregon, where I met a guy who had a fleet of antique cars. He had made a complete machine shop from old car parts, mostly model T parts. He had a drill press, a shaper, a unique vise that would conform to odd shapes, and other stuff I cant remember. I drove his model T truck to California for a parade.
