Changing from a '28/29 Steering wheel to '30/31 is a lot of work to gain 1/4". Remember the 1/2" is not the amount of room you gain but only 1/2 of it. 1/4 on the bottom and 1/4 on the top of the wheel. The important measurement is the radius not the diameter.
