The hand stuff works, but some get tiring after doing a few shoes. May work better with 2 people.

We have a kick riveter that does a wonderful job. Since you are using your foot you do not get so tired. I used one of the hand riveters like you have pictured to the right and found it takes more time then the foot kind.

With the foot powered kick riveting you can hold with both hands and keep the lining down better (use clamps too). I also found you can do some other A rivets like the hood side parts.

I know the riveter we have the link at the top provides for some extra pressure as the link comes up straight. So there may be tighter riveting with them too.

Of course, quality control is important with riveting. Closely inspecting each rivet after setting. As long as the rivet is well set any tool works.
