yea its supposed to make that hazy film then your supposed to buff it so it fills the micro scratches in your glass that way water has no place for surface tension to cling to but itself - gravity and wind do the rest.
on a flat vertical windshield i would only use rain x also, i use it on all my moderns and makes driving in the rain so much easier. If you put it on the inside it also helps prevent fogging.
