I use Shell 30w non-detergent for my dovetails. You can get a discount price on it if you buy a 55-gallon barrel directly from your local distributor. I got an additional 10% off for being a senior. Once a year seems adequate. I only use it on my door dovetails, though. I put detergent oil in my engines.
