I know MINK OIL is great for restoring dried leather like old WW2 gun slings, boots, etc and to soften and protect leather of all types. Ive used it on slings and does work wonders.

Menards has it in a suntan lotion looking bottle near the cleaners or sometimes the leather boots/boot supplies (like laces, cleaners, polish etc)
