Please post a close up photo of the exterior of the bottom screw holes on the 'punched' panel. I suspect you will find it has a very slight (& uneven) chamfer around the face side of the holes. I believe the early ones were first punched and then a quick chamfer (for oval head screw) by a separate operation. Later ones had both done in one operation, thus the better indent. The chamfer on mine, and others I have seen, is very shallow almost to the point of being imperceptible … the oval head screw fits poorly!

Note the white swills in the photos is a coat of paste wax to protect the parts during restoration.
