It is a rear seat riser sheet metal the goes on top of the wooden cross member above the rear spring. It is nailed down on the the wooden seat riser. It also had a piece of canvas riveted to the sheet metal so the rear spring would not rub and squeak. The view that you have shown is looking up from the bottom of the car. It goes in 1929 Town Sedan or Fordor.
