Mart.
So on a old tach , 100's are the same as 1000's , Example 200 rpm is now 2000 rpm.
A stock (( 1950)) 239 is about 110 hp & 190 torq @ 2000 rpm's ,
Around what Rpm does the vale's start to float .
I am looking for a Vintage tach , but I don't know if need just a 4 hundred or 4 thousands tach reading ,or 5 , or 6 ,
I have plenty tach's that go up to 8,000 - 12,0000.

As far as I know there is no such thing as a 4 hundred tach (at least not automotive), the engines idle faster than that! The range you would need on a tach depends on the engine and what you intend to do with it. On a stock Ford dyno chart the engine hits max output around 3500 rpm (less in the real world) and the charts end around 4500 rpm.
