I dont know. I had the starter off to replace it. I misinterpreted the casting number and thought it was a 1975, but the new starter would not fit in the hole so I had my starter rebuilt.

My avatar also has a 302 in it. Above the starter the casting numbers are "D1357". I know about D1 meaning but does anyone know what the remaining numbers represent?

I use a knife blade type and yes on a 12v system it connects to the ground side of battery.

It seems to me that you should run it on 12v to see if you like the fan speed. If you don't then put a reducer in there and run it on 6v. My avatar is 12v and the heater fan runs on that without a...
