Re: Front crossmember

The 28 to November 28 is totally different as the engine fastens right to the front crossmember. No yoke, it has ears on it, that get cut off on so many of them.

Re: brakes on a speedster

I have mechanical brakes on my speedster and mechanical brakes will lock up in a heartbeat. As already mentioned speedsters are pretty light. One the wheels are skidding whether it be mechanical or...

Re: Battery filler caps

Battery Central Mall is showing them. I purchased one from them about 4 years ago. I could add one to the cart on their website tonight.

Re: 30 Tudor wind lace

It goes behind the door panel. If fits in the clamp top half and then behind the door panel the second half.

Re: Wiring Harness

The steering column and gear box are different 28-29 to 30-31. The light switch and rod are different lengths, and therefore not just interchangeable. Look in one of the vendor catalogues and you...

Re: Marc vs mafca

I think we have beat this enough. Go to MAFCA website, look at the calendar tab, then scroll down. It showed up, June 3rd.

I think the'll be ok!

Re: Marc vs mafca

I'm not sure you did, I just meant an event greater than two guys tinkering on an A under a shade tree and calling it a MAFCA event. Now the tour in Indiana
to me does count, and MAFCA then does an...

Re: Marc vs mafca

I think I was meaning national events, not local club swap meets. Most of the swap meets mentioned in the calendar were both MARC and MAFCA club affiliated. The Augusta event is also a MARC club as...

Re: Marc vs mafca

What is the last MAFCA national event that was held east of the Mississippi River? I just remember Kansas City in 2000, and that wasn't quite to the Mississippi. I can also say that the other way...

Re: The Bounce

Possibly a frozen shock, not allowing the suspension to flex? If jacked up, you could spin the wheels and see if you see an up and down motion. If you do, then try to isolate to the wheel (given...

Re: 1930 Tudor topwood

The screws are too long. Originally, they had square nuts on them, on the top like you have it, but the original length of the screw was perfect, so the square nut was recessed in the wood, and then...

Re: Parasitic Drain?

I guess I must just be lucky then, I have an alternator on a 6 volt system, and the car sits for 6-8 months, and it starts right up every time. In my case, the alternator obviously does not drain...

Re: Drum taillight differences

Vern,
I did find in the exterior plating section, "the 1928-1929 rear lamp was a nickel plated drum shaped shell with DUOLIGHT stamped on the top. By that, the original one was stamped. Repro is...

Re: Cross Country in a Model A

John and Julie Kluttz and Family. Drove two Model A's from NC to Tacoma, Washington in 1994. They went back for the second MARC / MAFCA joint meet. Over 6,000 miles for two Model A's.

Re: painting floorboard

I used Minwax, stain, True Black. It allows the grain to show, simulating the original look.

Re: Tudor Sedan Top Wood Kit Questions

Since no one has responded to this, I thought I would throw out one idea. You could call Classic Wood Products; they specialize in Model A wood kits. 336-691-1344 they are a great, helpful...

Re: 1928 Closed Cab Pickup picture

Maybe not real helpful, but I Googled, 1928 Model A Ford Pickup, then clicked on images and I come across a few black and white photos of a 1928 closed cab.

Smile Re: 29 Pickup for sale

I do think it would be a good deal for that truck. I am 5'10" and 200 lbs and I can drive my 28 closed cab all day. I fit in it just fine. Your $7k purchase could easily turn into $15,000 over...

Re: Brookville Roadster Running Boards

I have better luck sliding them off. Tapping them with a wooden block and they will slide off vs. trying to bend them or twist them off, trying to "pop" it off.

Re: Pickup cab/bed dust shield A-878

It is my understanding that this panel is used on 30-31 models, not 28-29. There is really not a whole lot of clearance between the cab and the bed on my 28 pickup. Nothing like Charlie's picture...

Re: 1930 roadster

The Judging Standards do say the interior finish was satin golden beryl. The outside frame could be either chrome plated or stainless. Outside either is ok.
