Due to heat, the rear of the manifold sags over the years causing it to not line up properly with a new muffler/exhaust pipe assembly.

Ditto.
Also, another item often overlooked is ring end gap. Not enough gap on even one ring is enough to make an engine overly stiff, especially when hot.

If it's that hard to turn over I would surmise that whoever assembled that engine didn't know what they were doing. It shouldn't be that tight.

I just R&Rd the pan on my A yesterday, used a regular 6 point, 3/8" drive, S-K socket, no interference problems.

FWIW, that socket has been in use for over 60 years, so it's probably a little...

Have you checked that everything on the front suspension that should be tight, is actually as tight as it should be? U bolts that hold the front spring to the crossmember? Spring perch nuts? Steering...

You can check your coils w/a good multi meter, the primary winding of a 6 volt coil should be aprox 1.5 ohms, a 12 volt coil aprox 3 ohms.

Depending on the solenoid you probably need to run a switched 12V + wire to the small terminal on the solenoid to activate it. Typically a NO...
