Re: Rack & Pinion Steering for 1947 Ford

You ain't the first person to experience this. I had a friend with a '47 Plymouth with the same problem. We trailered it to a large empty parking lot and had a hoot trying to drive it before we fixed...

Re: spark plugs 59ab

To be clear, I wasn't recommending Champions, I was just using them as an example, because they were used by Ford in those days. As I said, brand is a matter of personal choice. That being said, I...

Re: Lincoln 337 cui what trans can I use?????

Here's a story I have posted on the H.A.M.B. that might be of interest. Back in the early sixties, a couple of guys I knew shoehorned one of these into a '53 Ford. When they got it in, the front...

Re: spark plugs 59ab

Asking NAPA might not be a good thing to do, because they will probably give you the number of a stock replacement, that will probably be incorrect. Make sure you have the proper thread length. Many...

Re: Tire size 1937 ford pickup

The last few posts show the difference between restorers and hot-rodders.

I like "Talkwrenche"'s answer best, so you know what that makes me.

Re: Air shocks ?

I have also had good luck with Eaton-Detroit. I needed a spring built to fit the rear end of a hot rod I am building. I sent them the specifications and they returned a spring that was exactly right...

Re: Axles 1939 Pickup ??

Here's a suggestion that's completely of the wall. How about making some spacers to go under the seals to space them out another 1/16th of an inch? That way, they'll run on a virgin surface.

Re: .100 or .125 bore without sonic testing the block? How Safe?

I've built three .125 over 8BA's and only ran into one slight problem. On the last one, the boring exposed a small flaw in the casting that had been hidden previously. The machinist said it would be...

Re: New wheels for my spare flathead

Yep, the biggest casters you can find (preferably with ball bearings), the better.

Here's another reason to use larger casters : When I built my test stand, I bought a set of 3 inch casters...

Re: 36 Fuel Pump

I would appreciate it. I have looked and all I can find are ones that are momentary both ways. I did find one, but it was DPDT, which would work in a pinch..

I thought scammers only frequented the "Swap Meet"; looks like they are migrating to the discussion board.

Re: Williamsonís instruments..

They're not the only ones who can do that; 12 volts is easy. We converted it to run on 6 volt positive ground. I have a video of a conversion we did, but can't upload it to this site for some reason....

(Any of you truck guys that want a new clutch cheap could probably talk me out...

Re: Parasitic draw from Generator?
