Re: front brake won't retract enough

X 3 on the adjuster shafts. The reproductions I bought where not shaped properly and didn’t allow any up and down movement of the brake shoes to center them in the drums. Compare the originals with...

Re: tank and fender weltting

About 4 years ago, on a road trip to Wisconsin, I stopped by the late Roy Nacewics’s place in Michigan to pick up some quality hardware. He was out of tank welting and he graciously took the time to...

Use only green ethylene glycol (IAT - Inorganic Additive Technology) antifreeze in your Model A, such as Zerex original green. The use of most modern (OAT - Organic Additive Technology) “extended...

Re: toe in tool

A lot of Model A wheels have some degree of runout, but are still very useable. Some of the plates in the links above have adjustable contact points to measure at the rim, although the plate pictured...

Re: toe in tool

With toe plates, you are using two separate measuring points, front and rear , while stationary. The accuracy of the toe measurement is wholly dependent on the condition of the wheels/tires. Any...

Re: toe in tool

Here’s a link to an original copy of paperwork for a Duby toe-in gauge. It specifically states that wheel runout does not effect the accuracy of the gauge and explains why. The key point being ONE...

Re: toe in tool

Chuck’s method using two pins does indeed eliminate the effects of wheel/tire runout on toe measurement. That’s because like a Duby or “spring gauge” it uses a single measuring set-point at both...

Re: toe in tool

Actually, the opposite is true. With a spring gauge or “Duby” toe-in gauge, a bent wheel or one with run-out is not a factor when measuring for proper toe-in specification. When it’s set up in front...

Re: Seat belts is a 1930 Coupe

I should also mention that my seatbelts are mounted further back than usual. I modified the package shelf and moved the seat tracks rearward 4 1/2”. I’m 6’ 3” and now have a decent amount of legroom....

Re: Seat belts is a 1930 Coupe

During my installation, I mounted the center seatbelts of my ‘30 coupe with a bracket I fabricated from 3” wide X 3/16 steel with 1”X 3/16” stiffeners. The outer belts were mounted with nut plates...

I have the same one as yours Y-Blockhead. Raw aluminum painted to match the engine. It looks like that’s the one they’re currently selling.

Re: Oil Filters

I bought mine at Speedwaymotors.com
Part# M-6880-A50 90 degree oil filter adapter. Their website currently lists it at $89.99. I believe that’s what I paid a few years ago.

Re: Rubber U Joint seal

Century-Hotrod on EBay is where I purchased mine. I’ve gone about 100 miles since installing the kit. So far it hasn’t leaked a drop, and I’m using John Deere Cornhead grease for the universal joint.
