Re: '40 Lockheed brake system

Don't know for sure but I would buy 2 qts. That way you always have some if needed.
I have DOT 5 in my 40 and used Speed Bleeders.

Re: 53 Flathead Gen/Fan

The internal threads you speak of are the threads on the other end of the long stud that screw into the intake manifold. It's a "thru" hole. That stud must be very tight in the manifold as you...

Re: Mart's Sparks: A turn signal tip from Mart's Garage. Easier than I thought!

Mart, That is really great. Thanks. I would like to install directional signals in my 40 coupe that's been converted to 12v. Maybe, in one of your videos you could explain what you did to install...

Re: Temp gage acting stange

Don't both the gauge and the sending unit have to operate on the same principle.

51 Merc gauges and sending units are King Sealy and both operate on the ohms principle.
Perhaps I am missing...

Re: 1940 merc rear end?

I know you didn't ask but a 40 Ford distance is 59 1/2 in WMS to WMS.

Re: Would You Use it?

Sell the "wrong" gaskets and that will help pay for the correct ones.

Re: 40 hood release pin

flatmotor; Just curious, where did you get your aftermarket parts from requiring the use of #12 bolt? I bought my hood handle from DRAKE back in the 80's and it was like the OEM with a pin.

Gosh, I thought Kube nailed it. Isn't this the seal being discussed?

Re: Motoring through Olde England

Mart is great because he loves what he does and is the real deal that
car folks can relate to as he actually gets his hands dirty. Would love to have
a next door neighbor like him.

Re: Odometer Can't Get Past 999.9

I don't know anything about speedometers but. I suspect you wouldn't want to run your drill on high speed when working on it. Would probably cause damage.

Re: How to find mechanic

V8 makes a good point.
Location matters. Is there an antique auto club near you?
Bet someone there could assist you.

Plus, look on you tube.

Here's a start....

Re: Removing Engine from '40 Ford Question

Well spoken. Sounds to me like ARDUN has
"DUN" just fine, keeping all his ducks in a nice straight line.
His car is a beauty and a piece of history. A work of art and mechanical wonderment.

Flatmotor, If possible please post a few photos of what you are dealing with.

Re: 28-48 U-Joint washer replacement

If possible, get hold of the correct washer. There was a thread on this a couple of weeks ago.
Start here and then ask the folks in the thread what's best route to follow and where to get washer....

Re: Car transporter?

I think "Kube" hit the nail on the head. Any money you think you're saving "going cheap" will be exceeded if problems or damage arise.

Re: Crusty Flatty Lockdown run in the 33 coupe! To the shops!

Thanks for the ride through your community in your 33.
Well done.
Love the way your garage and shop are tucked away behind your fence.
Are there Homeowner Associations where you are? Hope not.

Re: 40 hood release pin

TJ is correct. OEM has no threaded pins or sleeves. Just "clevis style" pins with cotter keys. There is no clevis used. Are you sure that part # is correct? Here's the underside of my DeLuxe hood...
