Re: 34 banjo with tube shocks?

I did something similar to my '32 sedan about 15 years ago. I made a bolt-on lower bracket that utilized the two wishbone bolts, and a bolt-on boss on the front side of the crossmember. My shocks...

Re: Ford tie rod end boots

The depth the rod end is pulled into the spindle should have nothing to do with the castle nut. It all depends on the ID of the tapered hole in the spindle, and the OD of the tie rod end. Tight is...

Re: 34 hood

If you can find an original center stainless strip, I highly recommend it. They fit much better than the repros I've encountered.

Re: steering box

You should probably be able to narrow down the looseness by tightening the sector adjuster bolt. If that doesn't make a difference, I'd say the worm, sector roller, worm bearings, or sector bushings...

Re: Stromberg 97 adjust

You're kidding right? How does it even run with no throttle plates in one carb? WAY TOO MUCH air getting in with not enough gas. You must mean choke plate I assume.

Re: Stromberg 97 adjust

Years ago I bought some that had knurled heads you can grab with your fingers instead of slotted for a screwdriver. I could swear they came from Uncle Max. If he doesn't still have them he would...

Re: Ecklers no more

You need to be talking with your credit card company about the fraudulent order you received, without full compensation.

Re: Relieved stroker motor with Ford aluminum heads

I have Canadian heads on my sedan. They have less pocket in the area between the valves and the bore. That's where the higher compression comes from.

My engine is a 3-3/8" by 4". Not really a...

Re: 40 Standard Grille

I once had an outer half of a '40 Merc grille, a perfect NOS part, never installed. It was painted a very dark brown, no chrome underneath it. We all know that no Mercs ever left the dealer lot...

Re: 32 sedan hardware minutae question.

They held down a small wood block that eased the transition of the cardboard panel.

Re: Best Head gaskets for a 59a 296ci ?

Re: Steering Sector grease or oil for 37 Ford??

How many of you drive your car when it's under 40 degrees? And even if you do, it will only take a few minutes for the exhaust to warm up the steering box right next to it.

Corn head grease...

Re: Harmon Collins Ignition vs new HEDI

Sure, upgrade to HEI. And while you are at it, put in a Mustang II IFS, power discs all around, an automatic transmission, some power seats, and maybe throw in a sun roof.

Sheesh.

Re: Removing Corn Head grease from steering

You have given all the zerks a fresh squirt to see if that might be the problem, right? If it cures it, but only temporarily, maybe you do have worn rod ends or kingpin bushings and bearings.

I...

Re: V8 Times Article on Bad Brake Shoes

As Rich mentioned, I found some 40 style shoes from Carpenter (I did the R&R a couple years ago) to have the lower cam holes in the wrong spot. It pushed the shoes upward too much IIRC. The...

Re: Major brake adjustment procedure request

Maybe a worn inner bearing?

If you don't find anything wrong with the bearings, have your local drum-turner take a hair or two off the edge of the drum. Or if you aren't too fanatical, you could...

Re: '40 brake adjustment

I usually try for 1/8". My hot rodded '32 has a return spring that brings the pedal up to a small rubber bumper on the bottom of the wood floorboard. When I push the pedal, it's from the bumper...

Re: Brake Drums

So, is that the heavy spot or the light spot?

I always assumed the weight of the steel that was drilled out for the valve hole in the wheel was replaced by the weight of the rubber stem. But...

Re: Grancor heads & intake advice please

Re: NOS heads

They did NOT just use an original Ford head to pull a mold off when they made these heads. If they did that there would be at least 1/4" too short on the end. Patterns for aluminum sandcast molds...

Re: '38 steering box

Y'all do know that the gasket for the end plate/tube is not just a gasket, but a shim of the proper thickness? Make sure to use either the exact same thickness, or re-examine if you should maybe...

Re: 1932 Grill Shells, Inserts & Crankholes

I've got a loose crankhole surround that is rusty steel. I always thought it was an old Argentina repro, but I see in Rockfla's pics that he has a chrome plated steel crankhole too. So, not all...
