Re: Decided against turn signals.....what about this idea?

I have to agree with Ken Bolton above. I'm not sure that many drivers these day even know what hand signals are anymore. I too, had an experience several years back where I was signaling a left...

Friend looking for 1929-1931 straight windshield Town Sedan

Hello all -

I have a friend who is looking for a nice, straight windshield Town Sedan that would make for a nice tour car. I say Town Sedan because he has mentioned that he has a preference...

Re: Phaeton folded down top rests on the spare wheel?

From the picture you have shown, I'm thinking that the top rests are shorter than would have come on a standard phaeton. If you will look at the top rests that wrndln posted above, I think that you...

Re: 28-29 Phaeton

The '28 - '29 phaetons have only slightly more front seat leg room than that of the '28-'29 roadsters. Neither is quite as large as that of the '30-'31 models. I would imagine that having a fixed...

Re: Little Trailer behind a Model A

We plan to put one of the reproduction Mullins trailers on our Cabriolet. We purchased ours in two separate transactions from the previous owner (one for the frame and axles - the second for the...

Re: Cabriolet 68-C vacuum line routing and installation

Thanks everyone for your timely guidance and direction on this. It make perfect sense to install the vacuum line before installing the gas tank - which is probably why I put the gas tank in first. ...

Re: Cabriolet 68-C vacuum line routing and installation

Thanks Kevin - I had pretty much concluded that the right angle turn in the metal tube would empty out along the bottom of the upper windshield garnish molding, but I'm still not sure how the metal...

Cabriolet 68-C vacuum line routing and installation

Its been a while since I disassembled the vacuum line on our old 68-C before starting its restoration. Forgetful as I am, I'm now wondering how everything went back together. I've purchased a new...

Re: 28 Roadster Rumble Seat

The deck lid should have a slot at the top of each corner for a short metal strap (that was welded on to the upper portion of the seat cushion) to drop in to; similarly there should be a similar...

Re: Body Style Numbers

I'm not certain if you are referring to letters after the model numbers or to something else. If you might be referencing letters that might follow the body numbers, then these would typically refer...

Re: Cabriolet Top Installation

I had tried to respond earlier but did so on my I-pad - nothing came out. However, since then, there have been several additional responses and I thank each of you profusely for taking the time to...

Cabriolet Top Installation

Greetings. I'm hopeful that someone here can recommend a good installer for the top for our 68C Cabriolet, preferably somewhere near the Atlanta area or at least in the southeast. I got a top kit...

Installing Tire Bands and Face Plates

I am looking to install stainless tire bands and face plates on my 68C, but do not want to scratch the face plates or the fender in the process of installing these. I spoke with a friend who has...

Re: help with Model A market values

In my opinion, a fair value for either of these two cars would depend entirely upon your anticipated action once purchased. If for instance, the purpose in acquiring either of these would be to...

Re: Are brake floaters worth it?

I put them along with steel drums on my last restoration, but have no intentions to put them on my current restoration. I haven't been able to deduce any real difference with floaters than with the...

Re: Model A Town Car?

Hi Ronn - With reference to the 1930 Town Car being discussed, I believe that there is a third one out there somewhere. Back in the 1960's and early 1970's Wendell Townsend of Atlanta restored a...

Re: Specific wood question

A couple of initial thoughts: I gather from your mention of replacing the wooden frame rails that there is a good chance that the body may be off of the car and the frame rails exposed. If so, it...

Re: Exhaust whistle: where to install?

My recollection of some of the original exhaust whistles is that they would mount just before or in front of the muffler, under the car. Of course these were hard to find, so when the reproduction...

Re: Sound deadening Q ?

You asked about sound deadening for roadster/touring car doors. When we first did our phaeton back in the 1960's, we stuffed the doors with fiberglass separated from the traditional house insulation...

Re: 1929 Murray Rear Dome Light

Unfortunately no. It is my understanding that the (rear) dome light that came on the Town Sedan was essentially a rounded oval with four rounded "corners" within that oval. One other unique feature...

Re: Are aftermarket hoods any good?

I replaced the hood on our 1929 Town Sedan when I re-did it several years back - the hood fits fine. Also, when we built my nephew's '28 roadster pickup, we put a new hood on it with similar...

Re: Difference between the two hand brakes 1928/1929

Our January '29 touring car has a firewall date stamping of 1-31-29, and it has the center brake lever, outside door handles, but '28 drum tail light. Hope this helps.
