Re: Model T assembly plant codes...

I've heard some folks have found assembly numbers on some of the later T's. I have a 1918, 1922 and a 23. The 1918 and 21 are all original wood and metal, and I haven't found a thing that might be a...

Re: chain driven starter

Hey FlatheadTed. That's a very interesting photo.although it isn't or doesn't appear to be an actual chain drive starting system. You photo appears to be driven through a gearbox and shaft, both to...

Re: Difficultly starting engine

I would assume you are getting spark, since the engine eventually starts and runs. When she's running does it run well? If it does run well after you finally get her started, chances are it's a fuel...

Re: Engine rebuild

Mike Bender out of Oklahoma has many video's on YouTube that will help you. He also has his own website. I will try a post the link. He's really good and will walk you through the engine/transmission...

Re: chain driven starter

Here is a photo of the dash control for the starter/generator Dad removed from one of his T's years ago. The unit is marked on the dial "Heinz and Springfield". I have not been able to come up with...

Re: Engine in, almost there.

Yes, that's correct. My Ts start real easy after they are warmed up on mag. Starting cold I usually start them on battery then switch over to mag. If you don't have a battery just pull up close or...

Re: chain driven starter

I'll see if he or I can find it. I won't be home for a day or so. I'll try and post a picture of the controls. I'll look around for the rest of it also.

Re: Engine in, almost there.

Why mag only. I guess I haven't been following your post. Can't you hook up a battery and run the buzz coils off battery. I do it all the time on "no starter" Ts. They originally had a dry cell...

Re: chain driven starter

I asked my father about the chain drive starter. He says he still has it, somewhere. I found only the wiring and the control panel that went inside the car. He thought it was a Jack and Heitz or...

Re: chain driven starter

My Father had one of these "aftermarket" chain drive starter/generators on a late teens touring car. He took it off because the chain and gears where pretty well worm out. I believe he still has it....

Re: Model T bands linings

The length is right on. I did install them and they appear to be fine. I did use brass rivets I luckily had.I put the rear wheels up on Jack stands and run it awhile, the band's are "seating" in...

Model T bands linings

I'm putting bands in a friend's 1923 model T. It has the removable bands, meaning, in theory you don't have to remove the "hogshead" to replace the band linings. But Ive never liked pulling the...

Re: 26 steering wheel rocks back and fourth

If what the others say is not helping, check the pins that hold the gears in place. You will have to take your steering wheel off as well as the gear housing cover though. You can also inspect the...

I'm in the process of bringing a 1921 model T roadster back to life. I've got the de-mountable rims in primer. My question is what color should I paint them? Aluminum, silver? Many shades to choose...

Your probably going to get many different responses on this issue. I believe each individual has thier own way of driving a model "T". I'll try and explain my way I drive mine. Going forward I slowly...

Re: 1.when to replace band linings2. thanks 4 all help

The thickness or wear pattern didn't matter on my "T". The reverse was "grabby"on my car. I tried adjusting it to no avail. Replaced them and that fixed it. My old cotton linings where so old that...

Re: Hard to start 26 Tudor

I have recently acquired a 1918 touring that had sat for only 13 years. First thing I did was pull the gas tank, sediment bowl, fuel line and carburetor off and cleaned the whole fuel system out. You...
