You can use a 12volt but just hook to starter, you don't want 12 volts going to the rest of the car. If it turns slow when cold it will probably be worse when warmed up. Was the starter rebuilt?

An excellent degreaser before painting is Westlys Bleechwhite.I didn't believe it until I tried it. Cheaper than lacquer thinner and washes off with water.

On my 39 I installed the pans with engine out. Did drop the drag link to fit the left one. Hard to find nice ones as many got tore off over the years.

It may run but you should have it set up on a Dist. tester. After points are gapped dwell must be set and then timing then the vacuum brake is set to spec.

Along with applying to the bolts I also smear the threads in the block as much of the sealant from the bolts will be left on top of the block when you screw them in.

Also, if it has a oil filter check to see if it has a restrictor fitting installed. Lack of one will reduce your oil pressure .

My 48 F6 would show o psi when hot. Ran it for years hauling firewood . Didn't worry about it as long as engine was quiet. Of coarse it had no exhaust so quiet is relevant.

Years ago I bought spring liners for my 39. The added thickness made it impossible to reassemble them. They were 12 leafs on that spring.
