Yes, we are talking semantics and no one has an explanation for my '36 tranny case with "H" designation and reinforcing ridge on the bottom. ????????

Re: 1936 car/ pickup vin question

Confirmed it is a '36 case, the curious "minds want to know part" is the reinforcing ridge along the bottom that Vanpelts site indicates was a later feature, calling it a "T" case. Does the "H" in...

Re: 1936 car/ pickup vin question

Sorry for my screw ups. I know it is a serial number, not a vin. And, I didn't see the star on my key board. You all did know what I meant. Now, anyone have any info per my original post? ...

Were the 1936 cars and pickups assigned their vin's in the same way; +18-xxxxxx+? Reason I ask: I have a three speed toploader transmission that was in a '36 pickup I purchased several years ago....

Re: USPS strikes again destruction of packages

As a retired rural carrier, I will contribute from my perspective: s...t happens-we handle billions of pieces of mail; it is inevitable that packages get caught in machines, fall off carts, etc,...

Re: Good sounding single muffler

I have 4 cars with the same Porter's mufflers, all dual's and they all sound different--two '36's with LB flatheads, a '55 Tbird with 292 and a '67 Mustang with 351w. The '36's are really different,...

Badger 8ba pistons

Anybody know much about Badger pistons? I googled and couldn't fine much. I have a set of 8ba .030 over that appear to be "destroked". They only have break in run time, so essentially new. Are...

Re: 36 Horn Problem

They take a lot of juice, and the less juice the "croakier" they sound. On my '36 coupe, I used the original horn, just bolted it on. I have a one wire alternator and the revs need to get pretty...

Re: 53 cam for auto

I have a cam that has cast "1cm" on it--is it the same as an 8cm? Was in a block with 8cm heads and 4" crank, rotators valves. Searched and can't find anything about it.

Re: 36' rear tail pan repair

I did this on my 36 coupe. I didn't use all of the path panel, just enough to repair the rust out, which was below the body line so I didn't have to match that. It has been several years, but the...

Re: Dead

Clean the battery connections and make sure they are tight, especially if this is first or second drive after sitting all winter. Moisture from the air seeps in and corrosion happens. Been there...

Re: USPS damage in shipping

I think the biggest single factor that has had negative effect on USPS is Amazon dumping all their packages at local post offices. I retired a couple years ago after 33 years as rural mail carrier...

Re: 8BA noisy valve update

Had a fresh built "36 lb that had a slight knock at idle that went away as revs went up. Ended up the machinist had put in only seven new wrist pin bushings. Old one was the knock.
