Re: 40 Heater Trim Clips?

Try Larry Caplan - he's the 39/40 heater guy in California.
Otherwise the 39 deluxe dash molding clip set sold by various Parts vendors should do it. PN 91A-20000C

Re: What is the gross vehicle weight of 1941 Ford pickup

1940 Pickup 85HP weight 2860lbs from the Ford service manual.
I guess an 85HP V8 41 would be the same.

Re: 1939 Ford /Mercury door patch panel

A competent panel shop should be able to fabricate it.

Re: Is this Washington Blue?

Jefferson Blue was the name for 1939.
That 39 deluxe coupe colour seems to my tired old eyes to be fairly close for 1939.
I remember seeing original 37/38 cars back in the 60's ands 70's still with...

Looking to install a split seat in a 1937 coupe.
It previously had a lift-up style seat.
I need the original curved metal panel that goes across between the rear 1/4 windows.
Somebody out there...

Re: Convertible Tops

I got my top for my 39 convertible coupe earlier this year from M&T manufacturing in RI.
1-800 - 999 - 2892
Quality and finish look excellent.
However I haven't tried to fit it yet.

Re: Doug Tutill

I bought that 39 standard coupe from Doug.
Told myself I'd never sell it.
Drove it locally around town for about a year.
Replaced the deluxe bumpers, over-riders and hubcaps with the correct...

Doug Tutill

I read today that Doug Tutill passed away.
He was a tower of strength in the Early Ford V8 club in New Zealand during it's formative and later years.
A good man taken too soon.

Re: Any kiwi barners know who this is?

There is a guy here in Taranaki who is planning to make 37/39 ones.
I have seen a prototype - very nice.
his name is Larry Crow from Urenui.
Gary Webber or Ian Scott would have his contact no....

Re: 1940 "standard" Fordor dome lamp(s)

1939 RHD sedans had the switch on the left .
According to Gary Mallast there was a dome lamp on either side.

1940 pickup seat

Would any of you Ford Barners in New Zealand have a seat for a 1940 Pickup ?
I believe 37 to 47 pickup seats are pretty much the same.
Also looking for a set of 40-48 16 inch...

Re: 1939 Ford-Mercury door pillar

The swages on a 39 mercury floor are more straight forward than a 39 ford.
A good body shop should be able to fabricate a new floor for you keeping the original tunnel. It will still cost you...

Re: 1941 ford pickup quest.

There is a difference in the curvature around the cowl area.
Also the number of attaching holes.
But I believe they can be made to fit.
Bob Drake has an illustration that shows the differences.

Re: 1939 Ford-Mercury door pillar

There was a running 39 mercury for sale in Corona CA the other day on the HAMB for $3500.
If you were nearby you could buy it and transfer a lot of the parts from your Grandfathers car.

Re: 39 steering column cover plate

I don't believe 39's had them.
I stand corrected - According to Gary Mallast's 38/39 book they did have them.
None of the original 39's I have owned ever had them - they must have been discarded....

Re: 40 Ford Pickup ID Numbers

One is - the other will have a 39 convertible chassis under it - basically the same as a 40 pickup. Barry Buckthought in Otorohanga is doing up a 40 pickup at present also.

Re: 39 Deluxe dash

39 convertible ( and station wagon ) dashboards are quite different from the sedan/coupe ones. Mainly the ends are tapered and therefore narrower, and the top is flatter.
The glovebox lid is tapered...
