Re: 55 Ford convertible top wiring

I have to wire my 54 also which I have converted to a 12 volt system with a 12v pump out of a Cadillac. They all seem to use the same pump. My plan is to temporarily wire and test it. If the wire...

Re: 1954 turn signals

Thank you for the good advice. Now I have an idea on how to fix it. Loved the Sun City comment... I may have been one of those last winter :)

1954 turn signals

My 54 Ford turn signals do not reset after I make the corner. I can not remember if that is how they were back in the day. Or are mine just miss adjusted some how? I thought I would ask before I...

Re: 12v 6v windows

Another trick to try if you are adventuresome is to make a 5 cell C size NiCad battery pack to operate the windows. 5 nicads in series is 6 volts. This C size cell is what they use in battery...

Re: 12v 6v windows

If it is possible I would check the current draw at 6 volts. It is probably goin to be less, maybe about 12 amps. This is just a guess, I have not measured one. What ever it is 6 volts / 12 amps for...

1954 rear springs

I am replacing rear springs on my 54. I ordered new bolts and bushings from Macs but the bushings seem way too soft. I am thinking of going to energy suspension poly bushings. Has anyone tried...

I use Brad-penn oil in my 302 with flat cam followers. Works great.

Re: It's Going to be a Long Winter

That is the best looking 4door HT from that era! I see it is different but still really nice. I probably have seen them but did not notice they were 4 doors. You have a great looking car!

Re: It's Going to be a Long Winter

Rick, that 4 door hardtop is pretty rare, not sure if I have seen one in person. Is the roof line the same as a 2door hard top? From the photos it looks the same and better than the Chevy versions...

Re: Help selecting a carburetor for stock 292 y block

A 300 cu inch engine draws about 500 cfm at roughly 5800 rpm. This is why I chose a 500cfm Edelbrock for my 302. I doubt I will ever max it out. It runs very well but a bit rich out of the box. I...

Re: 1955 Ford Club Sedan Refresh Blog

Do yourself a favor and put in a new upgraded swaybar. They are available in 1inch and 1 1/8 inch I think. I put a 1 inch on my 54( same chassis) and it made an amazing difference in body roll....

Re: Horns not working

You can test the horns with a direct connection to the battery. Be prepared to jump! I was surprised to find 6volt horns work fine with 12volts.

Re: Help! Can't get my '54 239 to run right!?

I have had a worn timing chain slip a tooth, it can happen.

Re: 54 Sunliner trm code

I think the second B was black top. My yellow car was originally dark green with black and green interior and black top. I hate the current yellow and will someday be painting it, probably burgandy.

Re: 1954 mercury

I put a 302 and a C6 in my 54 ford. I was worried the C6 would be too big but it fit with ease. A c6 is overkill for a 302 but I had it on hand, at least I don't need to worry about hurting the...

Re: Power brakes on a '54 Merc

When I did my 54 I had a 302 swap with edelbrock manifold. The manifold has vacuume ports tapped into it. If your does not have thos I would assume you could drill a hole and tap into any of the...

6 volt convertible pump (1954 ford)

I know you can run a 6 volt starter on 12 volts, can anyone confirm that a 6v convertible electric pump will work on 12v? Will it run too fast?
