Re: vibration in my car

Swap the tires around, back to front and see how it rides. Where do you feel the vibration? Steering wheel, brake pedal??

Re: clutch problem in a '57 T-Bird

Use a mirror and flash light, it may have even broken off close to where it hooks into the bracket. Under the car is worth a look too. Make sure the z-bar is in place where it pivots. Unhook it at...

Re: Window lift rollers

I guess the newer ones are all plastic. On my first '64 Ford, they started failing in '77.. so my 2nd trip to the glass shop I bought a bunch of them. Important to use a good white grease in the...

Re: Muffler Selection

I run Dynomax 20" oval turbos on my car. At first they were quiet, after maybe 6 months the sound has changed. For the better, a pretty nice muffler for around $65.

Re: Rubber seals around doors

I still have 1 side to go on my car. The first I did with the door on the car, but I had a helper. The next one, I will mask off where I don't want the adhesive, saves lots of clean up.

Re: 1955 Ford Fairlane rear leaf springs

I got mine from McVeigh's Truck Springs. He sells on eBay as "springking". Very easy to deal with, call him before you order. Prices were excellent and shipping reasonable from what I recall.

Re: 1955 Splash Pan ARGENT SILVER Color

I know Concours Ford sells it in spray cans, like I said a local speed shop has it for wheels. Look at any splash pan, the finish was never shiny. The wheel paint I used went on flat and I like the...

Re: 1955 Splash Pan ARGENT SILVER Color

I used an Argent Silver wheel paint on my splash pan, it might be a Duplicolor item. It went on sort of flat like the OG finish from the factory.

Re: tires

I run Hankook 215/15 radials up front on my '59, 235/15 on the back. I run them all at 32 psi and it helps it to steer easier. It is tough at low speeds for sure, but I grab the steering wheel...

Re: Rule of thumb for fan belt tightness

I go with trying to spin the alternator pulley by hand. If I can't, it is tight enough. The # of deflection depends on how long that section of belt might be.

Re: 64 Galaxie rear leaf spring

I did my '59, the nut came off and I used a drift to drive the bolt out. If the bolt is stuck you could try an impact hammer with a flat punch on it.

Re: 1955 Ford Disc Brake Conversion

I used some odd kit on my '59, seems to have moved the wheels out possibly close to an inch. The Wilwood kits are nice, but close to $600. With all the aggravation with my kit, the $600 in hindsight...

Re: Head light switch for a '54 converted to 12v

I have a Kwik Wire harness in my '59, I bought their HL switch and dimmer switch at the same time, just so I know they would be compatible. See if Rebel offers one. Rebel has a good thread going over...

Re: Source for voltage regulator for '57 T Bird

Any VR I have ever seen has had a ground strap close to where it mounts, worth a look anyway. Usually to the radiator wall from one of the VR screw holes.

Re: Brake light switch for 55 ford

Glad to help. It trips at 45 PSI. I got one with a CPPP proportioning valve that leaked immediately. Grabbed one at NAPA that took high pressure to trip. I'm happy with the one I got, should pick up...

Re: Brake light switch for 55 ford

This is the one I use, I save it in my eBay favorites in case I need another one. Definitely low pressure. And I changed it and didn't bleed the brakes.

Re: 1955 Club Sedan 302 Radiator Options

Talk to Bob at Owen's Salvage in Texas, he has acres of old Fords and may have the 6-cylinder item you need. Most of those parts stay with the cars unless someone needs to replace a rusty part.

Re: Auto transmission

I agree on the COM and even a later box (up to at least 1964) will probably work. They were interchangeable between the 332, 352 and 390. Not 100% sure about the 292.

Re: 1951 shoebox a chevrolet guys 1st Ford

That cam probably likes a CR of 9.5 or 10:1 and you probably need a better valve spring than stock. Ask Comp Cams, they are pretty helpful. I have a similar grind in my car, the cam definitely likes...

Re: brake line distribution blocks

This is what I'm using on my '59 Ford, on the review they mention the bad brake light switches which is accurate. I'm using a Speedway Ford style dual master (disc drum) and the car stops well.

Re: Wind wing part 2

All he did was to set the glass in the vent frame and window lift channel. I knew there was different thicknesses of the setting tape. The rest I did.

Re: Wind wing part 2

I had my glass guy do my vent glass and door glass, he did all the hard work. I supplied the glass and whatever seals that were needed.

On the '59 Ford, there is a rigid piece of channel that...

Re: 56 window glass

My windshield came from Sanders Repro Glass in Vancouver Washington. It was that Ford green tint and had the darker strip up top for only $9 more. They at the time had the best price and also the...
