Yes--what J Franklin said. Speed it up a little. A a new model T driver you may be being too cautious. Model T's generally don't shift real smoothly but you can improve it somewhat as you get used...

have you flushed the block--not just the radiator. years of pouring in oats and who knows what can cause the block to plug

absolutely- been doing it that way for 65 years. as long as it's blocked well it's not going anywhere. reengage the brake slowly before before you lower it down

that is partly true but the main reason for jacking it up is for the additional flywheel effect etc. you need only jack up one wheel
