Re: thermostats

Yeah, that's why EVERY internal combustion engine manufacturer in the world puts them in...because they are not needed.

1940 Pickup Wiper

Does the 1940 Pickup use the same bent wire from the wiper switch to the wiper motor as the passenger car, and does anyone know where I can get one?

Re: Sits a week, won't start

Be careful with those, I never could get my 36 to stay running with one on it. I threw it in the trash and put the stocker back on.

Re: *37 Pickup Repaint Needed*

No reputable shop is going to paint "over" a paint job in that poor shape. And you will find a "cheap" paint job will cost you more in the long run.

Re: Bradley Floor Pan order

I went round and round with him for YEARS, had to get the police in his town involved to get my money back. Stay away from this guy unless you want serious heartburn.

If you have already paid him...

Re: Need Help with 1934 Ford Engine - Rebuild or Buy another?

I have both engines in my cars and my 21 stud has been reliable as a hammer. It sounds like it would be a LOT cheaper to refurbish what you have or at the very least tear it down prior to deciding.

Re: 6 volt. Positive ground?

The way I heard it was Ford was friends with Edison and it was Edison that convinced Ford electricity flowed "better" through a positive ground. It was after the bigger V8's and higher compression...

Re: Checking brakes on 36 panel

Try removing those hubs without one and you will see how "reasonable" that price is! There is only one correct way to remove those drums without damaging them and this tool is it.

Re: Shewman's check valve flex hose

Bought one and couldn't keep the car running. Stick with stock, they don't fail.

Re: 35-37 pickups. Why so many black fenders?

You could buy fenders in any color from Ford, I have a NOS rear fender for my 1936 Panel that is in green with the part number stenciled on the inside.

Here are some pages from the 1935 Dealers...

Re: New License Plate question

Just be advised it's against the law in California to "duplicate" license plates.

Re: 21 Stud rear main leak??

That "hole" should have a big cotter pin in it. The pin just rattles around to keep the hole clean. There is a chance someone removed it thinking it doesn't belong there and the oil has been pooling...

Re: Foaming/cavitating coolant in my 34

My motor was a brand new rebuild and the entire cooling system was clean, the valve failed plain and simple. As for flushing the valve yearly, it's way too big a price to pay if that valve sticks...

Re: 1935-36 seat

Not that tough, remove center cross bar, make wood base for seat back spring, use spring from '36. The toughest part was finding the stock seat support to hold the seat up. It's the same as the trunk...

Re: Foaming/cavitating coolant in my 34

Don't do that! I had one of his valves, it seized close within a month and damaged my radiator. The valves he use do not appear to be for fluid use, more like a vacuum valve.

I had (have) the same...

Horse pucky, we use water base paints in our shop and the results are outstanding. The difference between a cheap paint job and a good one is preparation. The best paint in the world won't stick to a...

Re: An argument FOR thermostats. ..

Ahh...no, with a pressure cap the temperature can go higher before it reaches it's boiling point, once water reaches it's boiling point the STEAM pressure overrides the cap.... or the radiator fails....
