Hi Dave, I'm having the same problem getting that center-link bushing out of that idler arm. Not one of those that replied had any specific instruction on how to get the bushing out. I did see that...

Well I did get them out as one unit, removing the A/C condenser and the front grill. I used a vinyl coated aircraft cable under & through the intake manifold up to the shop crane. Worked great....

YES - there was a metal cover on the column. I threw mine away when I upgraded to a new steering wheel and column.

Doing a complete drive-train change. Anyone know if the motor(272) and tranny (Fordomatic) can be lifted out together? Or do I do as the shop manual suggests and pull them separately?
