Re: 55 Crown Victoria generator light coming on

I lightly sanded my contacts like previously recommended, and I guess it was a band aid fix. I ordered a new voltage regular from Dennis Carpenter, so hopefully itís decent quality.

Anyway, my...

Re: 55 crown power window motor

I'm definitely planning on keeping my system 6 volt. I'll look into the modern aftermarket replacements - I think I saw a couple in my google searches.

Power window relay and voltage regulator

Looking for a 6 volt relay for a 1955 power window - NOS/OEM preferred (ideally).

Also need to replace my voltage regulator. NOS preferred.

Re: 55 crown power window motor

Hi All, i gave up diagnosing this and took it to a professional. They confirmed that it is indeed the relay itself. I thought someone on here mentioned that they had one for sale, but i can't find...

Re: 1955 ford fairlane town sedan radiator issue.

I recently went through this experience. I ended up getting mine recored as I read somewhere that you run the risk of rust/corrosion with this new style of radiator if you don't use the bottom...

Re: too much moisture in exhaust?

Its 19% right now which is low. Usually its in the 30 - 50% range id say. But of course it varies.

I would think the drier the space, the less discharge at startup as it more quickly evaporates?

Re: Temp Gauge Stuck on Hot

I have an 81 F250...mine was stuck for awhile while a spider was in there. It doesn't take much to bind it up so id suggest getting in there and gently moving it to free it. Also, depending on your...

too much moisture in exhaust?

Wondering how much moisture is acceptable in exhaust at start up? I have enough to discolor (wet it) the pavement under both exhaust tips after the fist couple minutes of startup. This dissipates of...

Re: 55 T Bird Ford o matic

You need the separate transmission manual. Its level of detail far exceeds that within the normal shop manual, which glosses over the automatic.

Re: Generator light coming on

Ate my own words I think. This morning was in the mid 60s and before the sun rose, I was getting the gen light to glow just using the power windows (without driving lights on). I guess it was too dim...

Re: Generator light coming on

After pondering this and re-reading the shop manual, i think my problem might be simply that the voltage was adjusted (set lower) that is was supposed to be for the temp it was at the time (much...

Re: Generator light coming on

Hi Jim,

I basically use my car as a daily driver in the summer, so i routinely am on the highway at 60-70 miles per hour. Those speeds are of course higher rpms, so at night (only) with my lights...

Re: New baby 1953 Merc

Rotorwrench said it in their opinion type F would not hurt - I wouldn't say that's an endorsement. I think most are recommending Dex/Merc.

Re: New baby 1953 Merc

Use Dexron/Mercon. I did a lot of searching on these forums - lots of knowledgeable folks. I even had to "fight" the tranny rebuild shop on this - much to my dismay they used type F anyway. F does...

Re: Exhaust coming our of draft tube - normal?

Sounds like a trick question Kultulz lol. I have no idea, could easily be 1-2 decades. I don’t even know what that includes off the top of my head but can look it up in the service manual to see if...

Re: Exhaust coming our of draft tube - normal?

Hmmm good question Anteek29, I don’t know, it was that barely there wispy cloudy sort of look so I guess it could also be vapor. I’ll work on a sniff test!

Exhaust coming our of draft tube - normal?

Dumb question, but exhaust can/will come out of my draft tube when parked at idle. Is this normal?
