Re: Instruments not working

Bob C has it right. There is no fuse, there is no IVR. For example, the fuel gage has two wires connected to it. One from the sending unit and the other the power Bob mentions.

Re: Mercury VIN Decoder

You are correct on the serial number. The data plate should be:
BG70B = 2 Door Sedan
09 = Tahiti Tan
351 = Brown/White Checkered Broadcloth
15K = assembled October 15
169 = rotation number or...

Re: Installing a wiring harness

You would be much better off installing a correct harness from a reputable supplier.

Re: Oil canister for EAB 52 Ford

JPL,

Thanks for the photos. Most of this is already covered. The oil filter cannisters did not have a drain at least since 1949. Starting in 1950, the cannister bolts to the head, so there is...

Re: Should I convert from 6 volts to 12 volts

For your '50 Ford, if you buy from one of the reputable vendors, there is a main harness and MANY smaller harnesses.

For the main harness, about half goes under the hood and the other half goes...

Re: Hard time starting with electric starter, easy with crank

Alan,

I checked obits after reading this. Sadly, Bob passed away September 23, 2023. He was a great mechanic and helped so many people. He was also a true gentleman. RIP Bob.

Re: 2024 EFV-8 Central National Meet Auburn Indiana

That Coupe belongs to Doug Weinel from Colorado. Obviously drew more attention than my '36 Roadster parked next to it. :)

Re: '36 Easter Colors

Steve,

Don clearly references the Easter colors in his book. Check the footnotes. They are Desert Sand, Armory Green, Light Fast Maroon, and Bambolino Blue.

Phil,

We hope you can make it - will be good to see you again. Not too many coming from the northwest. There is one coming from Oregon, but he did not register a vehicle.

Re: Should I convert from 6 volts to 12 volts

In my opinion, a new wiring harness is one of the two best things you can do for your Early V-8. (A new radiator or replaced core being the other). Buy your wiring from one of the reputable...
