Re: Buyer beware on another repro part

It is a little screw that can be fixed with a little editing. Not worth the trouble for such a small part other than giving them feedback.

Re: Buyer beware on another repro part

Good point Steve, and I believe the part in question came from Brattons. The Horn motor cover was not the problem, but I can see people tightening it way too tight like they need a seal.

Buyer beware on another repro part

Just recently I repainted my horn and used all new hardware as well. Well, my horn started acting up by not stopping when the button is released. So I checked to see if the horn button was stuck or...

Re: Model A Ford Fender Debate

As far as I know (and not to put your friend down) that is not true.

Re: Motor Suddenly Stuck

Sounds like your starter bendix got jammed, a fairly common occurence with these cars. What I was taught to do was to put the car in 3rd gear and push from the back to unjam it which has worked for...

Re: mocdern car refinishing products

The same thing basically happened to me. I would recommend getting this book, it details the whole painting process at the factory and includes paint chips and how an A should be painted these days....

Re: rust in tank

Perhaps (this is not based on anything) it could be some kind of version of an early tank then they put baffles in? Does anybody know this?

I have no experience with electrolysis but have heard...

28-29 Radiator Cap

Looking for a nice 28-29 radiator cap. No extra holes, very deep scratches or missing pieces. Dents can be knocked out, no big deal.

Re: Too funny

I saw this a few days ago. I find it hard to believe that the generator got thrown into the tree so hard it stuck.

Re: Repop Ammeter Junk

Originals are out there, that is the good news. More good news is that someone I think was trying to get together the supplies for an accurate reproduction recently. Don't know if that project got...

Re: Water pump with no grease fittings

Here is an interesting one: I dug out a regular old design one and blasted it and discovered it was not so regular either. It had casting marks originally, which US ones did not. It had A L stamped...

Re: Engine Blow By or Not

Those compression readings are very normal. Your motor is fine. It is probably just your oiling system combined with the filler pipe.

Re: Water pump with no grease fittings

It was an alternate design between April 29 and 30 according to the JS. I Think I will just use another regular old casting I have.

Water pump with no grease fittings

I am rebuilding an April 29 engine so the water pump with no grease fittings is the correct one to use. Question: is it worth using this one just for authenticity? No grease fittings and a bushing in...

Horn Tag installation

What is the best way to get the horn tag snug and the rivets bent without scratching the paint?

Re: Engine Blow By or Not

I like to use the last design of the filler tube as I think it performs the best. Ford realized that blow by was an issue and tried to correct it by changing the way the baffles are oriented in the...

Re: Service Truck

Cool truck BUT this car was unfortunately redone by an amateur and is starting to become a problem: Wiper motor works sporadically, leaky waterpump, pinholes in the fenders, clutch problem, MAJOR...

Re: Interest in Accessory "Spark Starter"

That is a good question, one that I should get the answer to. I don't see it being any more than the design the suppliers sell which runs around $70. Probably a lot cheaper.

Re: Reproduction wheels

You didn't ask this, but my two cents is that reproduction wheels are expensive and there is no need to buy them when there are plenty of originals to go around.

Re: Interest in Accessory "Spark Starter"

I don't think it would move after some time, in fact I have had an original on my car for a few days of driving as a test and nothing has happened. It is supposed to be tight in between the switch...

Re: Interest in Accessory "Spark Starter"

To kill a few birds with one stone:

I have two originals and have seen some other threads about them here. Have not seen too many for sale though.

Nobody makes a repro of this exact accessory...

Interest in Accessory "Spark Starter"

I am posting this here to gauge the interest in the possibility of reproducing this accessory. I have the shops that could make the parts to make it so I thought I would throw it out there. Here is...
