Re: Which pressure plate to order?

If it's a 48, then WHICH 48? If it came from a car, it would be a 59-type. If it came from a pickup, it would be an 8BA. Check 8BA clutch stuff. I think you will find a 9-1/2.
If it's 48 car,...

Re: Need a Mechanic. SoCal.

Used to be, Jon Roberts, Irwindale off-ramp, 210 fwy. I think the business name is Roberts Auto Sales, or something similar. 'Course, Richard at Early V8 Garage is also a source.

Re: Optima battery support bracket/carrier for a '34

I made a carrier that is a duplicate of the original, except made a hair taller for the Optima. No pictures, but be assured, it looks like original except for the height dimension. Are you willing to...

Re: 34 ford top seal

For whatever it's worth... I used small screws, just as you have mentioned. It's been awhile, and I'm not sure, but I think I used 4-40, and ran a tap into the gutter below to accommodate them. As I...

Re: Starting to work on my 68

Frank, something to consider & keep in the back of your mind regarding head gaskets.... Ol Ron has posted a few times regarding this: If you want 'big-bore' gaskets, simply take 59A (239) gaskets,...

Re: 21 Stud Head Gasket

I have some very old composite 21 stud head gaskets. By old, I mean un-used, old stock. I don't know how to identify them, except that they are marked Victor 1002K. Couple bucks for the postman, and...

Re: 34 ignition lock

I would try VERY hard to get that key out. If you are lucky enough to find an original lock cylinder, they are quite expensive. And, I used an aftermarket cylinder, which worked, but was never very...

Re: F1 steering in a Model A

This is the way that some of the 'pro's' do it. I've seen some done by the old, original Pete & Jakes done this way. Slick.

Re: V8 Stuff on HAMB

How about a brief 'point-me-in-the-right-direction' ? I've tried looking on FB and Instagram, and I'm not savy enough to figure out how to look.

Re: Converting 1940 Ford backing plates to self-energizing brakes

I've seen a writeup on how the guy in Dallas did it. With enough searching, you should be able to find it. For him to do it, it was posted as very pricey. But, if you find the article, there is...

Re: 1941 Convertible- 10,000 Original Miles !!!

I'm basically a skeptic, and I don't believe I'm yet convinced. How many (presumably senior) school teachers would maintain a car like that with those accessories, skirts, spotlights, non-functional...

Re: 8BA into a 1934 Ford

Regarding those U-shaped motor mount adapters... I have a pair, I'll offer for free if someone wants to pick up the postage. Mine are 'repro', painted blue (if that means anything). Quality unknown....

Re: Help with Engine dating

That IS interesting... the 6, and the 9, and the 1, are dead give-aways. Those stamps were, and are, generally not commonly the ones WE have.
Good 'catch'.

Re: Help with Engine dating

I'm sure you can find lots of old threads on the Ford parts system. Briefly, the '5' in 59 indicates the year that the part number was released for production. In this case, 1945. The '9' indicates...

Re: Muffler review

Ref. post #13... In the ear of the beholder.
I've got Smitty's on both my 47, and my 34. I've had them for several years, and I'm happy with them. Which is not to say that I wouldn't be happy with...

Re: Complete 8BA Flathead - what can I expect to pay

good luck. The disassembled rust bucket was/is overpriced.
I've had real good luck getting a few (very few) that are unusable. You take your chances. It would be better if you knew the person, and...

Re: 34 body to frame bolt locatons

On my 4-door, it was every available hole on the rails. On the X-member, I'm not so sure. There was a recent thread on here about body bolts for a cabriolet, and someone posted how many bolts are in...

Re: $$$$$

For whatever it's worth... And, my point of reference is 5 or 6 years old...
I disassembled a 59A myself, and took it to a very experienced local guy. I supplied the parts (at least most of them)....
