Thanks all. Judging from the frame VIN number, I think mine is an October 1929. So perhaps it just doesn't have a tank date.. I'll take one more look.

Does anyone have a nice picture of just where the firewall date should be stamped on a 1929 Tudor? Hopefully that is some consistency in where it is stamped, between the different assembly plants. ...

Thanks all. I did order a glass filter replacement, so I won't be using the cast iron... But I did want to get it open, just for the experience.

While on the subject of Cast Iron Filters, I assume the large nut at the bottom is suppose to come loose in the usual fashion.... I've tried everything, but it is stuck tight. Any ideas? ...

Be warned that the number on the frame might not be readable. Rust never sleeps, it seems, and you may have trouble reading it........

Paul, check out this thread from a few years ago on heaters that DON'T require firewall holes. Floorboard vents are used instead.

Bob, wouldn't that be true? Seems the outer circumference of a 21 would be greater that a 19, hence a bit further traveled per RPM of engine.... Or am I missing something, as usual?

This pic is floating around FaceBook. Note it's a 1931 with 28/29 wheels. Not the usual 'getting newer, smaller wheels' that we usually see....

As some of you know, these pics were taken from 1935 to 1945 by United States Farm Security Administration and Office of War Information. They are a gold mine of images from that era. Just zoom in...
