If you can mount each arm into the...

Re: 55 Ford ranch wagon/ Sunvisors

Back in reply # 2 the mounting bracket arms for the visors are correct for the car but the visors are not.
Within limits and if needed, it seems some mix & match to end up with what you need may be...

Re: Strange "Clanking Noise" at Idle

The rubber layer dry rots and the ring may have slipped and is hitting something.

Re: 55 Ford ranch wagon/ Sunvisors

Have you tried a *Wanted* ad in the Swap-Meet section? A pair for the interior, not one of the big ones for the outside?
Is there a chance you have dimensions for them or a photo (from another car)...

Re: Stop light switch used for safety starter switch?

A similar round-about story...?
A previous owner left the NSS out of my '55 and bypassed it in the wiring, so I have the habit of always putting a foot firmly on the brake pedal before starting. ...

Re: Stop light switch used for safety starter switch?

Unless the brake light wiring were isolated from the 'start' wiring with some additional parts or relays, stepping on the brake pedal would energize the starter solenoid, at the same time it turns on...

Re: Strange "Clanking Noise" at Idle

Before I watched the video I was guessing it might be the rivets and bolts from the flex-plate to the torque converter. The rivets working loose and cracks in the flex-plate is a known problem.

Re: 1957 Fairlane 500 automatic

FWIW...
the Fordomatic in my '55 was rebuilt a couple years ago and the transmission shop guy said to use Mercon in it.

Re: 1957 Fairlane 500 automatic

The procedure for adjusting the throttle valve / kick down rod is illustrated on page 2-89 of a '57 shop manual.

Re: 1957 Fairlane 500 automatic

Has it been getting gradually worse or did the noise just start? Any recent work under the hood before the problem started?
Was anything done with the throttle valve / kick down rod adjustment?

Re: What year is my engine is???

All the engine block casting numbers have "6015" in the middle. The prefix and suffix are what changes.

The casting numbers are often hard to read. The casting itself can be lumpy & unclear, then...

Re: What year is my engine is???

'62 ? Check the date code on the block to know for sure. (see reply # 6 above)

312 ? ..Not very likely but it isn't impossible. "Some 312 replacement blocks were C2AE-6015C"
Quote from this...

Re: What year is my engine is???

The spin-on oil filter on the block was an add-on adapter thru '64. The bare blocks were not re-cast / re-machined to mount the new different (spin-on) oil filter.

C2AE is a '62 thru '64 block. C...
