Re: Early GAV Seat Problem

I will give the paper clip a try. Don't have one of those locking screwdrivers, can't say I have ever seen one.

I have a double venturi carb I am restoring and I want to clean the GAV passage so I unscrewed the brass seat but the thing just isn't coming out. It moves but it won't pop out of the housing, which...

Re: Wishbone/Trans Connection

Re: Shift Tower & shift lever

Re: spark off of the distributor.

My advice to you is just rebuild the thing with new bushings, new shafts, new plates, new points, and maybe a new cam. It is pretty easy and we are here to help. No need to spend money on a new one.

Re: spark off of the distributor.

Is your distributor painted on the lower part that goes into the head? Might be cause of bad grounding.

Re: spark off of the distributor.

Is your spark rod shorting out on a spark plug? Happened to me with a repro one that somebody threw on my car and bent too far.

If not that, your spark should not be going out, so something is...

Wood was solid all around save for that one area on the rear door where a few pieces will have to be replaced.

And actually, my son was the one who found it and wants to buy it. I am the one who...

Should I buy it?

In my search for a closed car, I came across an original 1930 Murray built Town Sedan. Seller is a younger guy who has bought over $3000 worth of parts (tires, brake drums, wiring, weatherstripping)....

Re: Clutch restauration, some questions

The one on the left is a good one because it has reinforcing tangs to keep the springs secure. I have one on my car.

Re: Removed engine; some improvements?

Check all of your transmission bearings, maybe replace gaskets, and check gears for pitting and broken teeth. Do the pedals need to be rebushed or new shafts?

Re: Engine in my 1929 tudor sounds like it knocks

I believe there was a thread on this but I forgot about it. Tudor and Fordor are pronounced just as they sound like two-door and four-door. Fordor got its name as a play on words from Ford, but I do...

Re: Carb Rebuild

I don't always soak carbs but when I do I use vinegar. Eats a little away at rust and certainly loosens things up.

Re: What do I need to do to get a reliable engine?

Maybe I mistyped but if most of his driving is in around town maybe he doesn't need it. But if his car is a driver and he wants a little extra power he can throw one on there.

You can do 60 on a...
