Re: Finally some Cam Degree Numbers - Now what?

I assume that your working with a bolt on cam gear and not a press on?

If so, this is how you can time the cam. turn the engine, until the valve are both open, the same amount. You can do that...

Re: V12

Are you asking about the Zephyr or the K engine?

The gears are interchangeable, I believe, between the Zephyr and the '39 and later Fords but, the gear ratio's are different and there is two...

Re: Just Another V12

If that is a Continental, it will be 1790 ci (5.75 x 5.75). When in the Army, as a mechanic, I went to track vehicle school at Ft Benning, GA. The ones I worked on were in the M60 tanks and were all...

Re: What's up with Fastenal Blue Line freight?

I don't know what happened to Fastenal. A year and a half ago, they would ship anything, anywhere and would ship to and from my area. But, 3 months ago, I sold a Zephyr OD trans, to a guy in San...

Re: 1949 Ford State Police car

In '57, the largest engine in Merc's and Linc's was the 368 Y block. The 430 didn't come out, until '58. It was called a MEL (Merc, Edsel, Linc). I had the 410 version, in my '58 Edsel Corsair.

Re: drive shaft re-spline

I'm sorry to add to the off topic but, I gotta know. Which of these engines make 500 hp?

1. Pushrod Type Engines

a. Four cylinder in-line, two valves per cylinder, water cooled, with intake and...

Re: Pop-up Adds at Bottom of Screen

Ryan, I would like to add my thanks for removing the adds.

I very much appreciate how you think and what motivates you.

It's a truly great site and I access it, all most every day.

Re: Pop-up Adds at Bottom of Screen

I agree with everyone else. They are very annoying! They would be much easier to put up with if, they didn't "flash" like they do.

Re: Winfield su1a

I think the R1 would be more streetable. I would call it more like a 3/4 race cam. Compare it to the Harmon-Collins 3/4 race cam.

Re: Winfield su1a

The Ex numbers @ .050 don't add up I think the 1 should be -1:
18/58 @ .020 = 256* 110 LC
53/13 @ .020 = 246* 110 LC

3/43 @ .050 = 226* 110 LC
39/1 @ .050 = 220* 109 LC

39/-1 @ .050 = 218*...

Re: Winfield su1a

This might help and it lists another Isky carded SU1A but, the timing for the lobes is reversed on it.

It will give you a idea of where the cam lays, compared to other race cams.

Re: Winfield su1a

It will be lumpy, for sure, as it has a lot of overlap. I think it will want at least another carburetor, to get the best of it and better valve springs, of course.

Re: Stromberg carbs

In your case, you should be able to run 2, with the other 2 on a progressive linkage.

Re: OHV conversion

I don't know! I could put up with the '37 PU grill, even though the 33/34 grill is the most beautiful of the '30's grills to me but, tear dropping the roof line.............?

Chop it all you want...

Re: Anyone use these drill/tap all in one?

Yes, you need to tap at about 1/2 the drilling speed, that goes for the C'sinking, too.

As a machinist, this is how it always goes for me.

This doesn't work with a tapping head, if your...

Eugene, itself, seems to be ok. Their fire is about 20 miles to the East, along Hwy 20. 15 miles East of Springfield.

I'm in Southern Oregon, 37 miles above the CA border. Our fires started in the area between 15 and 25 miles North of CA, along I-5, human caused. Most of the small town of Phoenix burnt.

There...

Re: 1936 dual carbs/ triple carbs

The Offy, regular spaced (narrow) manifold, makes the most since. The forward carb is very close to center and you can run a progressive linkage to the rear carb. You can also run the generator in...
