My main question is what carburetor I should have on this engine. 24 stud 8BA, currently has Stromberg 97 with vacuum attached under carb (see previously picture) can’t get much over 30 miles per...

I have a 39’ 1/2 ton truck with a 24 stud 8BA engine (unknown year). It has a Stromberg 97 carb on it but I can’t get much over 30 miles per hour. Wondering if I really need the 94 carb instead? ...

Headlight problems

Seems every time I drive my 39’ 1/2 ton truck the lights quit working or won’t turn off. Is is difficult to go to a modern pull switch? Don’t have a horn so it won’t be missed..

Amp gauge has hoop, truck is 12 volt negative. I’m not confident with electrical so I’ll have a friend help check for charging to battery

Amp gauge

I have a 1939. 1/2 ton truck and would like to know how to check the amp gauge. It doesn’t seem to move when engine is started. I jumped battery and field and still no movement that I can see.

I unscrewed the high beam switch from the floor and just let it hang by the wires, when I press it to change from low to high and back the fuse does not blow…. Wondering if grounding out?

Yup! Found and replaced the fuse with a “good” fuse. Now I have headlights, taillights and brake lights. But…when I step on the high beam switch the fuse blows. Could the switch be bad? Wondering...

When I revived my 39’ 1/2 ton truck there was a 20 amp fuse for the headlights. I replaced wiring with new reproduction cloth wire and changed all bulbs so it is now a 12 volt truck. Turned on...

Truck has a brand new reproduction wiring harness. Doesn’t mean there might be a problem.

Haven’t thought about the brakes being hot, maybe a wire came off brake switch. Thanks for the suggestions

Took my 39’ truck around the block and now I have no headlights/ taillights or brake lights. Took the junction box apart (by steering box) and cleaned connections. Now when reassembled I turn horn...
